PLAYER PLACEMENT SCHEDULE/NOTES:

Players should attend ALL sessions for their program with their assigned age group/gender. If your player is unable to attend both sessions, please contact Admin@ChesapeakeUnited.com.

If you are unable to attend player placements or have missed the placement dates, please contact our staff at Info@ChesapeakeUnited.com to schedule an individual evaluation with a Competitive or Advanced team.

All player placements are held at Centerville Park: 1857 Centerville Tpke. South, Chesapeake, VA 23322

*Coaching slate is subject to change based on the needs of the club and teams.

Q: “What is the difference between ‘Player Placements’ and ‘Tryouts’?”

A: The two names are somewhat interchangeable. Chesapeake United refers to the process as “Player Placements” because our goal is to place every player, leaving no player without a team suitable to their ability level and desired level of commitment.

Q: “How do I know which program is right for my player?”

A: Take a look at our player pathway and program descriptions by clicking here.  If you have additional questions on identifying the best place for your player, feel free to reach out to us at info@chesapeakeunited.com and we will be happy to help.

Q: “If my player attends player placements for Competitive and is not selected, can they attend the Advanced placements?”

A: Yes! Our technical staff will provide feedback to ALL players who attend placements — either in the form of a team invitation or a recommendation to attend Advanced or Recreation placements.

Q: “What can I expect in terms of weekly commitments for a Competitive Team? What about an Advanced Team?”

A: The Competitive Program trains 2-3 times per week in-season, competes in 8 league games per season, and attends 3-4 tournaments yearly.  Additionally, the Winter Training Program is included for all Competitive Program players (outdoor training and indoor soccer, ‘futsal’).

Q: “I’d like to know more about the mission, vision, and values of Chesapeake United. Where can I find this information?”

A: Click here to read about our mission, values, purpose, and motto!

Q: “My player is already on a Chesapeake United Team. Do we attend placements?”

A: Yes. Placements take place each spring in advance of the next soccer year and all players, current and new, are expected to attend placements.

STEP BY STEP: THE PLACEMENT PROCESS.

Step 1: Register

> Use the links at the top of this page to register for the Competitive or Advanced Program. All players must be registered in order to participate in player placements.

Step 2: Check the Placement Schedule

> The placement schedule is posted above. Check dates, times, and age groups to be sure your player attends the appropriate sessions for their respective age, gender, and program. Players who are currently playing up should attend placements with their current team unless directed otherwise. It is strongly suggested that players attend all sessions for their respective age groups. In the event that your player is unable to attend both sessions, please contact Admin@ChesapeakeUnited.com.

Step 3:  Attend Placements

> Players should arrive for their placements 20-30 minutes ahead of time to ensure proper time for check-in and warm-ups. Be sure to visit the check-in table to pick up your player’s number when you arrive. Placements will start promptly at the times scheduled.

Step 4: Receive Player Placement Notification

> At the conclusion of placements, staff and team coaches will meet to discuss player placements. Once player placement meetings have concluded and all players have been assigned, team assignments will be sent out via email. When you receive this placement, you will have 24 hours to accept your position. If your position is not accepted within 24 hours, it may be offered to another player, so make sure you don’t miss the window! If a player is not selected for a Competitive Team, they will receive feedback and a recommendation to attend Advanced Placements.

Step 5:  Team Meetings & Ordering Uniforms

> When player acceptance is complete and teams are officially formed, you will be contacted by your team coach who will schedule an introductory meeting with the team to discuss summer plans and the start of the fall season.  Competitive teams and coaches will also have a meeting as a club with the Executive Director after team meetings are complete. All players should wait for an indication from the club that it is time to order uniforms prior to doing so — do not order uniforms without official notification from Chesapeake United.

Step 6: Starting Training & Games

> Training will begin in August and games will begin in September with potential for a pre-season tournament in August. Specific details will be outlined per team by the Head Coach.
